2. Overview

About us is an app for couples. You connect your accounts with an invite code and then share content – dates, special days, photos, answers to conversation questions and more. We only process the data needed for this. About us contains no ads and no third-party tracking or analytics.

3. Data we process

Account and sign-in

When you sign in with Apple, we receive an identifier issued by Apple and – depending on your choice – your email address or an anonymous relay address and your first name. When you sign in with an email code, we process your email address. Purpose: sign-in and linking your content. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract).

Profile

First name, profile color, optionally birthday and city, your interests, your relationship goals and your love-language results. Your connected partner sees this information too. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Shared couple content

Your “together since” date, planned and completed dates with ratings and notes, special days, photos in your album, talk signals with an optional note, answers to conversation questions, love gestures and your couple level. This content is visible only to the two of you. Answers to conversation questions are free text you write voluntarily – only write what you want to share with your partner. Where you voluntarily include special categories of data (e.g. about your intimate life), we process them based on your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time by deleting the answer or your account. Otherwise the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Notifications

Reminders (e.g. for date nights or anniversaries) are scheduled locally on your device. So that your partner can notify you (e.g. about a talk signal), we store a push token for your device and send notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google Ireland Ltd.). You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Purchases (About us Plus)

Subscriptions and purchases are made through Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never receive payment details. The store gives us a signed receipt (product, purchase date, term, transaction number), which we verify to unlock Plus for both of you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR (contract, retention obligations).

Technical data

When you access our servers, technically necessary connection data is processed (IP address, time, request) to provide the service securely and deleted after a short time. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation).

We keep your data for as long as you use your account. When you delete your account, we delete your profile immediately. Shared content remains available to your partner until they delete their account too; if you use the app alone, it is deleted with your account. We keep purchase records only as long as legally required.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and you may withdraw consent at any time. Just email contact@pocketbyte.io. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, e.g. the Independent Centre for Privacy Protection Schleswig-Holstein (ULD).
